DT Wayne Kirby Chooses Oregon over Utah

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

Utah's class was more or less set heading into National Signing Day with only a few uncommitted prospects left on the board. One was Highland HS (Pocatello, Idaho) three-star defensive tackle Wayne Kirby. Kirby announced today he will be signing with the Oregon Ducks over Utah. Kirby has good size at 6-3, 290.

Kirby would have been a nice get for Utah as I think he could have performed well in Utah's system. Defensive tackle is not an immediate need for Utah right now with many talented players returning for Utah for the 2016 season including Lowell Lotulelei.

There are still a few players announcing today that are considering Utah, including Kahuku HS (Kahuku, Hawaii) DE Bradlee Anae, Corner Canyon HS (Draper, Utah) OT Keaton Bills, Arizona Western LB David Laufatasaga, Cottonwood HS (Salt Lake City, Utah), Liberty HS (Brentwood, Calif.) S Shurod Thompson, and Murray HS (Salt Lake City, Utah) DE Maxs Tupai (who may actually not make an announcement today).
