Both are listed as three-star cornerbacks according to the 247Sports Composite ranking and are both roughly 6'1" 175 lbs. Per Ryan McDonald of the Deseret News, the brothers were both offered at a Utah satellite camp and were recruited primarily by Utah defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley. Utah is the only FBS offer for Tristin and Zyon (they both hold offers from FCS Sam Houston State as well). After Provo High School (Provo, Utah) wide receiver Ty Jones decommitted and has subsequently committed to Washington, Utah's 2017 class was at only one commitment, Snow College defensive tackle John Penisini, before adding the McCollum brothers. They are now up to three commits in the 2017, which is tied with UCLA for the fewest of any Pac-12 team.
