Jakob Poeltl 25/1 odds to win NBA Rookie of the Year

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Former Runnin' Utes center, and new Toronto Raptors big man, Jakob Poeltl, the 9th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft is on the board to win the Rookie of the Year in the NBA this upcoming season. Jakob is down the list that was put out by the Bovada, who has him listed at 25/1 to win the award. A lot of variables go into something like this, primarily playing time. It appears the big guy is going to get a fair share of playing time, as Toronto lost Bismack Biyombo to free agency, and are yet (that I've seen anyway) to fill that role.

Ultimately, I don't think Jakob is flashy enough to win, and being stashed up in Canada won't help. I like Buddy Hield or Brandon Ingram to win the award.

Here are the odds below. Do you think Poeltl has a shot?

2017 NBA Rookie of the Year - Odds to Win
Ben Simmons (PHI) 13/4
Buddy Hield (NO) 11/2
