It’s back! The Holy War returns to the regular season after a two year hiatus (not counting the Bowl game of course). Both teams are 1-0 after week one wins. Utah has dominated the series for the last decade, winning 5 straight. This year’s game returns to Rice-Eccles Stadium for the first time since 2012, the infamous “field rushing” game.
BYU comes in with Kalani Sitake as head coach, the former Utah defensive coordinator. Sitake is a beloved figure around the Utah program and fan base, thus making the feel of this Holy War a little more friendly. BYU returns Tysom Hill and Jamal Williams in the back field, a formidable running duo. It’ll be interesting to see how Ty Detmer does with these two in his more west coast system.
Utah’s defense should be up to the task, and it’ll be fun to see if Troy Williams and the offense takes another step.
