Utah Football Wide Receiver Cory Butler-Byrd Reinstated fully

NCAA Football: California at Utah Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

How about some good news? After Joe Williams retiring from the sport, and Kylie Fitts going down with an injury, the Utes will be getting a player back, and at a position of need with Tyrone Smith having some kind of injury. Cory Butler-Byrd has been reinstated by Kyle Whittingham to join the team in games.

Butler-Byrd has missed the first couple games of the season, after getting in trouble just before camp with the police. He also missed most of spring with an injury, so he’ll have to work himself back into shape.

Will we see him for the San Jose State game? At this point, it will probably depend on the shape he’s in, and how much of the playbook he’s got down. That was one of his problems last year when he was moved to the offensive side of the ball, was that he wasn’t really comfortable with the playbook. Regardless, when he is back on the field, and ready to roll, his speed either in the slot, or on the outside, will help stretch the field for the newly reshuffled running back depth chart.
