The top player in the state of Utah in the 2017 recruiting class, South Jordan (Utah) Bingham four-star defensive tackle Jay Tufele released a top seven, and the hometown Utah Utes made the cut. His top seven includes in no order BYU, Michigan, Ohio State, UCLA, USC, Utah, and Washington. Tufele is rated the No. 56 recruit according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.
Tufele previously told 247Sports that his top three was Michigan. Ohio State, and Utah. Trevor Phibbs of the Salt Lake Tribune also reported Utah was in the lead for Tufele. Many have said that he is the best prep player to come out of the state of Utah since Haloti Ngata, who was a top 10 recruit. Tufele is a must get for the Utes, and the Utes are in a good position for him it appears.
