The Utah Runnin' Utes (14-6, 5-3) host the Oregon State Beavers (4-17, 0-8) tonight, Jan. 28 in the Huntsman Center. The game will tip-off at 5 p.m. MDT. Live television coverage of the game will be available on Pac-12 Network. If you want to watch the game on-the-go, the Pac-12 Now App allows for streaming of the game on phones or tablets. A Utah win today would tie the Runnin’ Utes with the UCLA Bruins for third in the Pac-12 standings at 6-3 (Cal could also tie with a win over Stanford).
At 0-8 in Pac-12 play, the Beavers are the only team in the Pac-12 without a conference win. They have yet to record a win in 2017, last beating Kent State on Dec. 21, 2016. The Beavers are riding a one game winning streak after defeating Utah in Corvallis, Ore. last season 71-69 on Feb. 4, 2016. Utah leads the all-time series with Oregon State 16-11.
The Beavers coach Wayne Tinkle was an assistant under Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak at Montana. The Oregon State Beavers always tend to play Utah closer than expected due to the familiarity between the two coaches.
Utah will try to bounce back from their loss on Thursday, Jan. 26 against No. 10 Oregon 73-67. Prior to the Oregon loss, Utah had scored 82 or more points in five-straight games. Oregon State is coming off an 85-78 loss at the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo. on Thursday.
Oregon State is led by Stephen Thompson Jr. (16.2 points per game) and Drew Eubanks (15.2 points per game). Eubanks is also the team leader in rebounds with 8.6 per game.
After the game tonight, the Runnin’ Utes will be action again next week when they travel to the Bay Area schools.
