Despite not playing in week five and a week with few upsets (outside of overrated SEC teams at the bottom of the poll), the Utah Utes (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) moved up one spot in the Amway Coaches Poll to No. 18, and they stayed at No. 20 in the AP Poll. The Utes jumped the Virginia Tech Hokies in the Amway Coaches poll after the Hokies fell at home against the Clemson Tigers. The biggest fall in the poll was the USC Trojans, who fell nine spots in the AP Poll and 10 in the Coaching Poll after losing at the Washington State Cougars. The Washington Huskies lead the Pac-12 in the AP Poll at No. 6, followed by in-state rival the Washington State Cougars at No. 11. The USC Trojans sits at No. 14 following the loss, and the Utah Utes are the fourth and final team at No. 20 in the AP Poll. The Oregon Ducks sit just outside the top 25 receiving enough votes to rank them essentially No. 26. The Stanford Cardinal, the next opponent for Utah, are receiving eight votes, making them No. 30.
