The No. 20 Utah Utes will breakout their excellent neo-throwback uniforms for their Homecoming game against the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday Oct. 5 at 8:15 p.m. MT at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Utes first unveiled these uniforms prior to the Homecoming game against the California Golden Bears in 2015, a game that brought ESPN College GameDay to Salt Lake City. The Utes won that game over future No. 1 pick Cal quarterback Jared Goff, and also won their 2016 Homecoming game against Arizona in the neo-throwbacks. The uniforms incorporate a white helmet, red jersey, and white pants using the interlocking UU logo instead of the drum and feather logo.

Utah has worn a lot of different uniforms dating back to 2014, when they began wearing a different combination for each game, and this uniform is one of my favorites. The throwback tie in to Homecoming is a great theme that only adds to the greatness of this uniform combination. The Utes are 2-0 in this uniform combination, and they are 4-0 in white-red-white combinations (having worn the non-throwback version in the 2014 Las Vegas Bowl win over the Colorado State Rams and against the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds to start the 2016 season). We will find out Saturday night if the Utes can stay perfect in this combination against Stanford.
