The Utah football team has announced the signing of Frisco (Texas) Lone Star wide receiver Jaylen Dixon. Dixon is a composite three-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. According to his Hudl profile, Dixon is 5’ 10”, 160 with 4.35 speed. He might not be the biggest player, but he is fast and shifty and can do a lot of damage to a defense as a slot receiver in Utah’s offense.
Dixon committed to Utah back in October and was courted by several other schools Baylor and Iowa State before shutting things down. He had a monster senior season, catching 88 passes for 1,239 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed 30 times for 132 yards.
With new offensive coordinator Troy Taylor, Utah prioritized recruiting wide receivers in the 2017 class for Taylor’s more pass-heavy offense. Dixon will likely be a playmaker for Utah in an offense that will get his speed and shiftiness in the open field.
