The Utes have officially added 24/7 Sports, three-star rated running back T.J. Green out of Chandler, AZ. The Utes have some really nice running backs already with Zack Moss, Armand Shyne and Troy McCormick, but with the loss of Joe Williams, and with the luck we saw at the position last year, you can’t have too many running backs.
Green’s biggest offers were Boise State and Oregon State, who he was actually committed to before flipping to the Utes just this past week. Green is rated as the top running back out of Arizona, a state where Utah hasn’t hit all that often over the last handful of years.
Per the Arizona Central, “[Green] ran for 2,267 yards and 35 touchdowns. He scored 39 TDs, leading Chandler (13-2) to the 6A state football championship. He had 183 rushing yards and two TDs in a late December 44-24 win over Georgia champion Valdosta in the Geico Showcase bowl game in Texas.” That’s a productive running back against some quality competition, with Chandler being one of the best schools in Arizona, that’s something you really like to see.
As Alex said in his initial write-up, “he will fit perfectly into Utah’s new offense under offensive coordinator Troy Taylor and running back coach Kiel McDonald. At 5’ 11”, 180 with good speed, Green is an all-purpose back, who can run and catch well. “
