Utah football has announced the signing of Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde three-star wide receiver Bryan Thompson, who committed to Utah today over Oregon. He also held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Indiana, Nebraska, Oregon State, Washington, and Washington State. He was a one-time commit to Boise State before backing off his commitment before National Signing Day.
Wide receiver was a big priority in this class for Utah, especially with Utah switching to a more pass-heavy offense under new offensive coordinator Troy Taylor. At 6’ 3”, 185, Thompson has the height Utah likes for outside wide receivers. Thompson has good speed to stretch the field vertically and runs clean routes. He can go up and get the football, taking full advantage of his 6’ 3” height. One very important part of his game is that he is an excellent blocker, which is required to play wide receiver at Utah. He is coming in as part of a stacked wide receiver class for Utah in 2017.
