The Utah football team got a commitment from Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou three-star defensive end Miki Suguturaga today. He chose the Utes over offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Hawaii, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Washington State among others. He is 6’ 5”, 255 pounds, both of which are Nike+ verified. He did not sign a letter of intent with Utah today.
Traditionally, Utah has done exceptionally well with players from the state of Hawaii. The Utah coaching staff has made recruiting Hawaii more of a priority in recent years it seems, with several players in this class in addition to players like Bradlee Anae, who played last season as a true freshman. I like Suguturaga’s film. He fits the mold of a Utah defensive end. He has speed to come off the edge and rush the passer. What I like most though is he has the strength to get off blocks, even double teams, and make plays in the running game.
