Utah football announced the signing of Kahuku (Hawaii) Kahuku defensive lineman Aliki Vimahi. He opted to commit to and sign with Utah on National Signing Day. This was a big recruiting win for Utah over other offers from BYU, Colorado, Oregon State, USC, and Virginia.
He is one of three players Utah has gotten in the 2017 class from the Aloha State. I love the focus on recruiting Hawaii this season. Utah has had many great players who originally came from Hawaii. Kahuku is the same high school where current Ute Bradlee Anae played in high school on the island of Oahu. Vimahi is Nike+ verified 6’ 3”, 244 pounds. He has a relentless motor and can be moved around the defensive line, like current Ute Filipo Mokofisi. Adding a talented player like Vimahi, who has the ability to be moved around the defensive line is a great addition for Utah’s always talented group up front.
