Kyle Kuzma selected by LA Lakers with the 27th pick in the NBA Draft

NCAA Basketball: Utah at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

He decided to leave school early and gamble on himself toward his dream of being in the NBA, and that gamble has paid off as Kyle Kuzma was selected by the LA Lakers at the number 27 pick in the first round in Thursday’s NBA Draft.

The Draft pretty much went as predicted early on, and through out the first round. Many considered this draft one of the better ones in recent years, and it was very top heavy with fellow Pac-12ers being drafted, headlined by Fultz and Ball being drafted No.1 to Philly and No. 2 to LA.

This makes three straight years a Ute was drafted into the NBA, with Kuzma joining Delon Wright and Jacob Poeltl.

We’ll have more on Kuzma later on when Brittany breaks down his fit with LA a little more, and she goes into the history of Utes being drafted into the NBA.

It’ll be hard for some Utah fans to see Kuz in purple and gold, but I’m stoked to see Kuz’s dream come true.
