Kylie Fitts and Lowell Lotulelei named to the Bednarik Award Watch List

NCAA Football: Colorado at Utah Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Watch list season is upon us, and today, Kylie Fitts and Lowell Lotulelei were both named to the Bednarik Award Watch List. The Bednarik Award is given to the nation’s top defensive player at the end of each season. Those are two great names to be on the watch list, and probably the two best on Utah’s squad.

Kylie Fitts is coming off of an injury shortened season, and was granted an extra year to come back and play for the Utes. The defensive end is a nightmare for tackles, and is an expert at batting down balls at the line of scrimmage. I expect a monster year for Fitts on the outside.

Lowell could have left for the NFL Draft, but like his brother came back to improve his draft stock, and to leave a major impression on his opponents. Lowell is almost always double teamed, and is a beast in the middle. Lowell, like his brother, may not get amazing stats for that reason alone, but should enable the guys around him to get a lot of stats.

These guys join Mitch Wishnowsky with some preseason honors. Mitch received a CollegeFootballNews.com 1st team nod, and an Athlon 1st team honor.
