It was announced yesterday that the Utah football program will play Southern Utah University in the 2024 season. While the date will not be approved by the Pac-12 Conference until April of 2024, it is likely to occur on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 and would therefore be the first game of the season. Utah beat Southern Utah 24-0 to start the 2016 season, the only meeting between the two schools. Utah also has a game scheduled against Southern Utah in the 2022 season. The only other nonconference game on the schedule so far for the 2024 season is a home game against Baylor.

SALT LAKE CITY—Utah and Southern Utah have signed a contract to meet each other in football in 2024 in Rice-Eccles Stadium. The first choice of a date is Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, pending approval from the Pac-12 Conference to move the game from Saturday, Aug. 31. The schools will be notified of the league’s decision in April of 2024.
Utah and SUU have met once previously with the Utes claiming a 24-0 victory over the Thunderbirds last September in Rice-Eccles Stadium.
