Runnin’ Utes pick up commitment from Rylan Jones

Local point guard, from Olympus High School, Rylan Jones, son of Chris Jones, committed to play for the Runnin’ Utes in 2019. 247Sports has Jones ranked as the 14th best point guard in the country, and one of the best in the west.

It’s nice to see the Utes keep a local kid home, of course, they had a massive advantage with having his dad on the staff, but he still counts. The Runnin’ Utes have had a hard time over the last year or two landing some big name kids, with many of them choosing Arizona, so any time the Utes can get a good recruit locked up, it feels good.

It’s also crucial for the Utes to keep a good pipeline of good point guards coming into the program. I maintain the Utes have struggled to meet their potential the past couple of years due to the lack of a true point guard that can facilitate the offense. Hopefully a kid like Jones can help keep the team on track, and to help lure in some play making wings to help put the ball in the basket.
