The Utah Utes opened up Pac – 12 play with a big win over the Arizona Wildcats Friday night. Here are my game balls for week 4:
Offense: Troy Williams
After Tyler Huntley went down with a shoulder injury in the second quarter, Troy Williams came right in and picked up where he left off. He didn’t miss a beat. The senior co-captain came right out of the gate with a 40-yard pass to Darren Carrington II. He completed 9 of 18 passes for 131 yards, including a rushing 1-yard touchdown.
Defense: The secondary
The Utes forced five turnovers against Arizona. The defensive backs had a huge night. Chase Hansen caught a tipped pass for an interception, Casey Hughes forced two fumbles, Javelin Guidry converted a pick-six, and Corrion Ballard had an interception in the fourth quarter.
Special Teams: Matt Gay
Matt Gay has been perfect all season. He left out of Arizona completing 3 of 3 field goals. He has totaled 14 consecutive field goals this season, which has landed him a place in the Utah history books. The former soccer player now has the third longest completion history at Utah.
Honorable mention: Lowell Lotulelei
The Utes senior defensive tackle came up big for the Utes in the fourth quarter by blocking a 47-yard field goal attempt by Arizona with 9:30 left on the clock.
