The Utah Runnin’ Utes (10-3, 2-0) will play host tonight to the #14 Arizona Wildcats (11-3, 1-0) at the Jon M. Huntsman Center at 7:00 p.m. MT on ESPN, and Bill Walton will be the color commentator. The Runnin’ Utes started Pac-12 play 2-0 after winning at the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers, completing the oh so difficult Pac-12 road sweep. Now the Runnin’ Utes get to return to the friendly confines of the Huntsman Center for their Pac-12 home opener. Arizona leads the all-time series 31-29 and is 10-1 against Utah since the Runnin’ Utes moved to the Pac-12, Utah’s lone win the last time Arizona came to the Huntsman Center (70-64 on Feb. 27, 2016).
Utah will try to move to 3-0 in conference play with a win over the red-hot Wildcat$ (oops I mean Wildcats). Arizona has won eight-straight games after losing three-in-a-row. They defeated in-state rival Arizona State, who was undefeated and ranked No. 3 at the time, in their last game.
The Runnin’ Utes will need to try to slow down junior shooting guard Allonzo Trier, who is second in the Pac-12 with 21.3 points per game and freshman center Deandre Ayton, who is averaging a double-double with 19.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
