Utah Claims First Pac-12 South Title

NCAA Football: Utah at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Oregon Ducks held on, and I mean held on, for a 31-29 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils to give the Utah Utes their first Pac-12 South championship! The Utes have had so many close calls and heartbreaking moments falling just short of the Pac-12 South, having a shot to win it in 2011 and 2014-2016. Utah lost Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss, yet thanks to Oregon, the Utah Utes have won the Pac-12 South! Such a deserved accomplishment for Kyle Whittingham and the rest of the team after all of their hard work this season. Utah faced the toughest Pac-12 North crossover schedule of any team in the Pac-12 South. When Utah started 0-2 in Pac-12 play, it seemed unlikely we would be here, but Troy Taylor got the offense rolling in October, and Utah has gone 6-1 since the start of October. Utah clinches the South and will face the winner of the Apple Cup in Santa Clara for the Pac-12 title. They do face the rival BYU Cougars next week, but the Pac-12 is obviously the main focus with a Rose Bowl bid on the line on November 30.
