Utah stays at No. 17 in the College Football Playoff Top 25

Utah Football

The College Football Playoff Committee release the penultimate top 25 rankings Tuesday night, and the Utes find themselves in a familiar spot after the win over BYU this past weekend. They sit at No. 17, which shows how little value there is in that win right now. In the Pac-12, Washington is now up to No. 11 after the Apple Cup win, and Wazzu has fallen to No. 13. Many are speculating that bumps the Cougs out of a New Years Six game due to them being just outside the top 12 and behind some 3-loss teams, which is problematic for the conference. I HATE the fact that Wazzu is behind Penn State, that lucked out in a win over Appalachian State, and got blasted by Michigan. That one gets under my skin.

Three teams are pretty much locked for the CFP, ‘Bama, Clemson and Notre Dame. The question who is No. 4? If it’s Georgia, that’s going to be a serious disappointment. Of course, Bama and Georgia play this week in the SEC title game — which should be an elimination game. It sounds like it’s between OU and Ohio State for that 4th spot. We could all be surprised when the final selections come out on Sunday, not only for the CFP, but the New Years Six.

Here’s the full rankings:
