The most recent commit, as of just a couple of days ago, Donte Banton out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, has put his name on his LOI to play for the Utes. The three star rated receiver is from Deerfield Beach High School and keeps the Florida pipeline running for the Utes.
Banton has some nice offers from Baylor, Louisville, Pitt, Kentucky (who woulda thunk that is a good offer now) and FAU (Lane Kiffin!!). At 6’ tall and 184 pounds Banton has some good size, although his speed isn’t elite with a 4.58-40.
In his film, he has a knack of finding the open space in defenses and sitting down to make the right play. He’s plenty fast so he gets behind DBs, but his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands is nice. He’s not easily tackled, so no shoe string attempts will bring him down, and he’s not scared to make a catch in traffic.
He looks to be a nice addition to Guy Holliday’s crew, and should fit in nicely once some of the upper class wide outs move on.
