ICYMI: Four Utah football players invited to NFL Combine

NCAA Football: Southern Utah at Utah Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Seemingly buried in the news of signing day and a Utah basketball home sweep over the Bay Area schools, the NFL Combine invites went out and four Utes are going to making the trip to Indianapolis for the biggest job interview of their life. The four Utes taking the trip are:

Darren Carrington II

Kylie Fitts

Lowell Lotulelei

Salesi Uhatafe

The one name I thought we may see go, along with these four was Filipo Mokofisi, he should probably be going as well. With that said, I think Lowell and Darren Carrington can have massive impacts on their draft stock with good performances. Lowel Lotulelei didn’t have a massive season, for a number of reasons, but that bowl game performance should have opened a lot of eyes around the league. He was incredible that game. With Carrington, I think he is one of t he best receivers in the country, and with his speed and hands he’ll shine well in this. I can’t wait until they measure his hands, and he gets a chance to show off his pass catching skills in the drills. He will be fun to watch. Kylie Fitts had a really nice week at the Senior Bowl, and I think a good combine will go a long way to helping him out. I saw him being compared to Nate Orchard in one article, which is probably pretty accurate. I would be interested to see if he would maybe play well at linebacker. I think he is athletic enough to do so. He may be that classic tweener, and it’ll be interesting to see all of his measureables at the event. Uhatafe had a solid senior season, and he seems to be a long shot at being drafted, but the Combine can be huge. He’ll need to have a great Combine, and then follow it up with a great Pro Day. I really want to see him get a shot.

Best of luck to these Utes as they move toward April’s NFL Draft.
