Local DT Jackson Cravens Commits to Utah

Provo (Utah) Timpview three-star defensive tackle Jackson committed to the Utah Utes. Looking at the offer list for the No. 592 player in the country, you might guess he was a four-star recruit. In addition to Utah, he held offers from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan State, Oregon, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Washington, and Washington State. Cravens took official visits to Utah, Michigan State, and Oregon before deciding to stay home and play football for the Utes. Cravens missed his senior season with an injury. Had he been healthy, it is not out of the question to think he would have been a four-star recruit. The 6’ 3”, 285 pound defensive tackle is the nephew of Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham and is also related to Su’a Cravens, who plays for Washington in the NFL and was a standout at USC in college.

As a junior, Cravens recorded 160 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks. He is quick off the ball as an interior pass rusher. Cravens uses his hands well to shed blocks to get to the quarterback or ball carrier in the backfield.
