Utah has went down under again to find a player, but this time it’s not a punter. Utah announced the signing of Thomas Yassmin, a three-star rated (247sports.com) athlete on Tuesday. The 6’ 4”, 240 pound Aussie is listed as a tight end and I’ve seen reports that he can run a 4.5 40-yard dash. Utah’s offense doesn’t really feature tight ends anymore, so it’ll be interesting to see how a player like this could factor into offensive plans. I know last year Harrison Handley didn’t get many chances to contribute to the passing game, and I thought he was very talented. That size also screams maybe a line backer, but we’ll see over time, I suppose.

Reports are Utah beat out UCLA, Oregon and Washington for the services of Yassmin. Yassmin comes from The Scots College in New South Wales, Australia. With the popularity of football taking over in Australia, Utah’s pipeline down there continues to grow and get stronger.
A Jazz player, who has claimed Utah as his favorite school in the state, welcomed Yassmin to the state.
