Utah Men’s Basketball signs Lahat Thioune

Utah basketball has signed a big guy from Florida Prep via Dekar, Senegal. The 6-10, 210 pound forward, Lahat Thioune will join the Utes next season and give Utah their signess from this past November. He joins Timmy Allen (Mesa, Ariz.), Riley Battin (Oak Park, Calif.), Naseem Gaskin (Oakland, Calif.) and Charles Jones, Jr. in this signing class, one that Utah fans and coaches are excited about. With the loss of big guys like David Collette and Tyler Rawson, the Utes are needing to bolster their size down low and Thioune can help do just that.

Thioune went on to average 14 points and eight rebounds per game this past season, while helping lead his high school squad to a 25-6 overall record and a perfect 13-0 mark in division play, while also guiding the team to the FHSAA Class 2A state semifinals. With the departure of five players, Utah has filled the losses really well thus far, and as always, it will be interesting to see what other moves, if any, are made with the roster. Under Coach K, and in college basketball in general, there has been a lot of roster turnover with transfers, and it’ll be interesting to see if there are any other changes as we move through the spring and summer. It’s always good to have a talented big man join a roster too. At just shy of 7-feet tall, he needs to add some weight, but hopefully he can come in and get some boards and block up the paint until he can get his body 100% college ready.
