Former Utah Utes defensive tackle Lowell Lotulelei has decided to retire from football. He was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft but did sign an UDFA contract with the Denver Broncos.
Lowell Lotulelei/DT/Utah has informed the Denver Broncos he is retiring from football. Lotulelei, who signed a UDFA contract with Denver, hopes to get into coaching.

He received a $15,000 signing bonus (tied for the most of any undrafted free agent who signed with the Broncos) but has already paid that money back to the team.
Lotulelei returned $15,000 signing bonus that tied Phil Lindsay, Jeff Holland for highest among Broncos' undrafted rookies. Lotulelei probably had clearest path to 53-man roster among undrafteds as there isn't great interior depth behind Pekos. But if heart isn't in it. #9sports https://t.co/71PMoN4ISh

Lowell’s career at Utah was slowed by several injuries, so my guess is he wants to preserve his health and get into coaching. We here at Block U wish him luck.
