In poker terms, the Utah basketball coaching staff just got their “full house” with this most recent addition to the 2018 recruiting class. The Utes have received a commitment from Both Gach, a 4-star rated combo guard / wing out of Arizona. The Utes pulled him in over Texas Tech and San Diego State. As you see below he rounds out one heck of a freshman class, and that doesn’t include some JC talent that Coach K is bringing onto campus.

At 6-feet 7-inches, the Utes have them a long guy that they can put on the outside, and it will be interesting to see where they find a home for Gach on the floor. Looking at his tweet, and some other info around the internet, it seems he may see himself as a point guard. His size is similar to Delon Wright, but after a couple of years of short point guards, a lot of people will seem pretty tall. Many places see him as a combo guard, and they way basketball has evolved, that’s not a bad thing. The hope is that if he is the primary ball handler, can he take care of the ball and knock down threes to keep teams honest.
Utah has their lineup of the future, that can hopefully all grow together and build into something really fun. You factor that in with some guys like Sedrick Barefield, Parker Van Dyke and JC transfer Charles Jones, you can mix some upper classmen with some youngsters and have a nice rotation of guys for the next two or so years. Coach K has done a great job, and his staff, building this class, now we just need to see what they can do on the court together.
Gach joins Timmy Allen, Riley Battin, Lahat Thioune, Charles Jones and Naseem Gaskin, who make up Utah’s 2018 basketball recruiting class.
