Utes in the NFL: Who made the cut?

The evaluation period is done. Over. Finito. NFL teams have stacked their roster at 53. There are 13 former Utes who made their way onto ten teams this season. Here’s the breakdown:

Atlanta Falcons

Defensive end Derrick Shelby is still on the active roster.

Baltimore Ravens

The only Ute still going strong in Baltimore is Eric Weddle.

Buffalo Bills

Star Lotulelei is on the active roster.

Carolina Panthers

Linebacker Jared Norris was able to secure a spot on the active roster this season with the Panthers.

Chicago Bears

Kylie Fitts, Utah’s only draftee in 2018, definitely made a lot of noise in the offseason. Fitts is a defensive end turned linebacker.

Dallas Cowboys

Darren Carrington and Dres Anderson were cut by the Dallas Cowboys. But Anderson didn’t go too far and is now on the practice squad.

Denver Broncos

There’s a lot of Utah action on this squad. Garett Bolles, Devontae Booker and Tim Patrick are all on the active roster.

Los Angeles Chargers

Tackle Sam Tevi is on the active roster for the Chargers in 2018.

Los Angeles Rams

Dominique Hatfield didn’t make the 53-man roster but he found a place on the team’s practice squad.

New England Patriots

To no surprise, defensive back Eric Rowe is on the active roster.

New Orleans Saints

Another roster spot that’s not surprising is Marcus Williams.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers released Brian Allen from the roster but picked him up on the practice squad.

San Francisco 49ers

Things were looking good for Pita Taumopenu, but ultimately he was released from the active roster and placed on the practice squad.

Washington Redskins

This should be a no brainer but Alex Smith and Tony Bergstrom are on the team’s active roster.

Hans Olsen of The Zone Sports network tweeted out the following list of everyone who has been cut that has ties to the state, and there are a lot of Utes on there. As stated above, some of these guys have been added to practice squads.
