Ratings vs Efficiency: Utah dominates Oregon State

Football is great isn’t it? I love the shake-ups that happen each week. Did anyone pick a Georgia loss this week? Anyone? Bueller? Wow! If only the Clemson game against UNC ended the same way a few weeks back! Oregon looked much better this week than they did the week prior when I was bagging on them. Way to not suck Ducks! I really don’t like USC, but I was bummed they couldn’t pull off the upset this weekend. They certainly made a statement though. Better luck next year. Now just one more loss for them and Utah should be good for the title game, right? As long as Utah keeps playing the way they have the past couple weeks! Dang! What a show! Entertaining start to finish on both sides of the ball. The USC loss stings a bit more after every single awesome play Utah has made since.

Alright, I have ruminated enough. Deep thinking is hard. Numbers are easy.

Michigan has finally been dethroned as the most overrated team in the country! Woo hoo! Congrats Wolverines, you are only second most overrated, behind the Pac-12’s own Arizona State. Arizona state actually got more overrated this week. But they did enough to win so the move up in the poll that matters. Here’s to hoping Utah can handle the bigger stage and put Arizona States rating more in line with their efficiency/ Michigan stayed put on their win that pushed their efficiency up another 12 spots. Let’s see how they handle the bigger stage vs. #7 Penn State. I’m down for an upset. Oh and next week they have # 8 Notre Dame. Good luck. Oh and Minnseota is third most overrated. Going undefeated to this point in the season is a good thing though. I imagine they will continue to climb in the rankings in the coming weeks given that they play Rutgers and Maryland.

This weeks underrated teams mostly lie between 20-25. Mostly. Washington is the most underrated at a +11 margin. A couple of disappointing losses will do that I guess. Missouri is the next most underrated team. They continue to play well (also undefeated) against subpar teams. I mean, scoring 50 points against SEMO (oh those guys) (wait, who?) is quite a feat, right? They did beat South Carolina though, so they have a win against a team that beat a really good team. Wait, they are underrated, why am I giving them such a hard time. Way to go guys. Iowa comes in next in the underrated list at +5. Just like with Washington, a couple losses hurts. Oh, and hey, there was a tie for that #3 spot. And it happens to be Utah. They happen to be the highest rated underrated team in the country right now! Their efficiency is coming in at #8 in the country right now!!! Way to go UTES! After Saturday’s performance I’m not too surprised though. That was an amazing game for every aspect of the Utah football team. Their efficiency jumped 9 spots in one week. I would love to see another dominating performance this week against Arizona State. 50+ points again sounds great to me!

Two gold stars this week, Penn State and Oregon both match perfectly on their rankings and efficiency. If I’m not mistaken, this is the second time Oregon has received a gold star. Way to go Ducks, that is impressive. Most teams can’t even get that once!

Go UTES!!!
