Night with the Utes is Tuesday night!

NCAA Basketball: Pac-12 Media Day Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Yes, we are in the middle of a football season that is very, very interesting, but that doesn’t mean it’s not also basketball season (almost)! The Utes will give their sneak peak to fans of both the men’s and women’s basketball team on Tuesday night. The Night with the Utes will tip off on Tuesday night with the full schedule of events listed below.

5:30 p.m.: Autograph Session
6:15 p.m.: Women’s Basketball Intros
6:20 p.m.: Women’s Basketball Scrimmage
7:10 p.m.: Men’s Basketball Intros
7:15 p.m.: Men’s Basketball Scrimmage

We will get a look at this new look (again) Utah men’s basketball team and all the new pieces they have. I recommend you have your program out and get to know all the new names with numbers, because there are going to be a lot of new names out there you won’t yet know. The talent is deep for this team, but again, they are young. This is a freshman and sophomore dominated team that will be led by Timmy Allen, who was named to the All-Pac-12 second team. You have returning names Riley Battin and Both Gach, both sophomores, but you’ll also want to get to know the names of Rylan Jones, Lahat Thioune, Banden Carlson and many others. Jones is very interesting, because he was a highly recruited kid locally, and he is the player Utah may have been looking for for a long time at the point guard spot. The men’s team was also picked 8th in the conference by the media in the pre-season poll, sandwiched between UCLA and Stanford.

As for the women’s team, Lynn Roberts is killing it building this program. Her team was picked 7th, between Arizona and USC. Utah got back Daneesha Provo, who missed most of last season with a torn ACL. The women’s team is always a joy to watch, because they play the game the right way, and Roberts is such a great coach. This is tied for the highest pre-season ranking for the women’s team, after a 6th place finish a season ago. The Utes just need to stay healthy, and continue to build and they’ll be in a good place.

Enjoy some October hoops, as we get ready for a big football game on Saturday.
