It was another successful bye week for the Utes, at least in terms of getting healthy and making some moves in the rankings. After Penn State lost to Minnesota this past week, the Utes jumped up a spot to No. 7 in the second round of CFP rankings. Utah is right behind Oregon, and within striking distance of the top 4.

At the top, no surprise that LSU jumped into the top spot after the win over Alabama this past Saturday. Also, no shocker that ‘Bama is just outside the top 4, and of course, they are within striking distance of getting a bid, even if they don’t win their division. Georgia at No. 4 is a stretch for me, especially with them having a bad loss.
For Pac-12 fans, the Ducks and the Utes are in a good spot. If things pan out and the league has a 1-loss matchup in the title game, and then having a 1-loss conference champ, that will make things very interesting for the playoff committee
Overall, for the Utes, all you can control is winning what you have left, and then letting the chips fall where they may. The goal remains the Rose Bowl, and whatever else happens, happens.
