The Utah Utes added another signee late on National Signing Day with Sione Vaki. Vaki was named the NorCal Player of the Year at Liberty High School in Brentwood, Calif.
He was a two-way star for Liberty in high school. The Utes like him on defense at safety. He is yet another under the radar recruit that Utah always seems to pull in and develop into an All-Pac-12 caliber player. He was pursued heavily by the Washington State Cougars, who were interested in him on offense. He also held offers from the Tennessee Volunteers and USC Trojans among others. I really like this pickup for the Utes. Vaki is a big time talent and credit the Utah coaches for holding off WSU.
Vaki is Mormon and will serve a two year LDS Mission after he graduates from high school. Being a sign and send, he will not enroll at Utah until 2021.
