Cody Barton joins Marquise Blair by being drafted in the 3rd round by the Seattle Seahawks, 88th overall. Both defensive players will be making their way to the Emerald City attempting to reconstruct the Legion Of Boom. Blair was drafted a round prior.
Barton is one heck of a story, being a local kid that looked pretty lost out on the field at times. Frankly, many fans weren’t sure what to think of Barton early on in his career, and then he busted his butt and turned into an All-Conference type of player, and now a 3rd round draft pick by the Seahawks.
Last season Barton earned Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention, and was probably deserved better, after he led Utah with 116 total tackles. He finished 10thin the Pac-12 in tackles per game (8.3) and 11thin tackles for loss (10.5).
I’ve always liked watching Seattle play, and now with two Utes on the squad, I’ll tune in more closely than before.
