Guard Alfonso Plummer commits to Utah Basketball

The Utes picked up another commitment for the 2019 class, and has been the case with the last couple of Utes that are coming on board, they are hoping to add some shooting and scoring with the addition of Alfonso Plummer.

Plummer is out of Arizona Western Community College, and per UteZone.com, he averaged 18.6 points per game, while shooting 88.8% from the free throw line and 43.8% from beyond the three point line. Plummer has good size standing at 6-1 and 175 pounds, and should instantly be able to compete for time in the backcourt, especially with the departures of guards Sedrick Barefield and Parker Van Dyke. He’ll have an uphill battle to climb, especially with the influx of new players to the program, but if he’s able to put the ball in the basket, and buy into Coach K’s system on both ends of the floor, he should see minutes right away.

With him listed as a point guard, it will be fun to watch him compete with the likes of Both Gach, and incoming freshman Rylan Jones, a four star kid that is expected to be a big time player. After the last couple of years of seeing almost 10 minute shooting draughts, anybody that can constantly put the ball in the basket is a welcome addition.
