Utes ranked No. 15 in first Coaches Poll

NCAA Football: Pac-12 Media Day Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

With camps starting up around the country, the release of the various polls are going to start rolling out, and that happened today with the Coaches Poll. The Utes check in at a cozy No. 15 in this poll, and is one of five Pac-12 teams ranked in this poll, just behind Washington and Oregon. While this poll really doesn’t matter much, 15 feels about right for the Utes to open the season.

Of course, the rankings are led by the usual Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma, especially with three of them returning a QB and one brining in a national championship winning QB.

While the Pac-12 isn’t in the top 10, I think the league could make some noise and get a good number of representatives in there by the time the end of September rolls around, and position themselves well going into the heart of the season.

Of course, Texas is ranked in the top 10, because Texas is on the proverbial comeback trail at all times. We’ll see if they can actually hold on this season.
