Here is a recap of what some former Utah Utes did in the NFL this week.
Eric Weddle
Eric Weddle received a concussion during Los Angeles’ 30-27 win over Carolina. Weddle was carted off the field in the second quarter after he collided with the left knee of Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey was attempting to hurdle Weddle. Weddle suffered a cut to the head during the incident and was put in the concussion protocol. Weddle is back at practice and on track to play in week two.
Eric Rowe
Eric Rowe made 11 tackles (nine solo) in the Miami Dolphin’s 59-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Rowe already has more tackles this year than all of last year when he had 10.
Marcus Williams
Marcus Williams had two tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception in the Saints’ 30-28 win over the Texans. The interception is what everyone is talking about. Williams got a jump on the pass and picked it away at the Saints’ 36-yard line. The glory for Williams was short-lived. He was immediately body-slammed by Texans receiver Deandre Hopkins. Hopkins picked up an unnecessary roughness call.
Cody Barton
At one point in the game, the Seahawks appeared to have a stop when Cody Barton was flagged for running into Bengals punter Kevin Huber. Cincinnati turned the second chance into a field goal to take an early lead.
Matt Gay
Matt Gay nailed his only field-goal attempt, a 31-yarder. He also connected on two extra points in the Buccaneers’ 31-17 loss to the 49ers.
Josh Gordon
Josh Gordon suited up for the first time since Week 15 of last season. He reeled in three grabs for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Mitch Wishnowsky
Mitch Wishnowsky finished with two punts for 90 yards. The first punt had everyone talking. The 54-yard punt had some serious hang time which allowed the Niners to get to Tampa Bay’s return man and deliver a serious hit. Wishnowsky’s second punt was a 37-yarder. He didn’t have much luck on this one but it was less on him and more on the 49ers offense giving him bad field position.
