The Utes haven’t played a lot of games the last three weeks, and are back on the road today as they take on Colorado in Boulder.
The Utes are coming off a split with the Oregon schools at home last week, as they handled Oregon State, and battled the Ducks but fell in the end. When the Utes have been successful, it’s been a constant formula, and I don’t see that being any different today. The Utes, when they play well, they play as a unit. Timmy Allen has really emerged as a bucket getter, but when the Utes move the ball around, and play within the offense, they find a lot of open shots. That means no bad turnovers. Utah’s really played the way they’ve played for large chunks of this season because they have held onto the ball. With the Buffs size and length they really need to be smart with the ball, especially on the road. The Buffs are similar to the Ducks in a lot of ways with their size, so Utah needs to be careful. That all starts with Rylan Jones. The youngster has been impressive all season, and he’ll have another test with CU’s stud guard McKinley Wright.
The Buffs are having a nice season too, and this could be a Quad 1 win for the Utes if they get it, enchanting a potential NCAA tournament bid. The Buffs also split the Oregon schools a week ago, but they went the other way beating the Ducks and losing to the Beavers. The Buffs looks like a tournament team, and this is one heck of a road test for the young Utes. They should be well rested, but they just need to play their own pace and they’ll have a chance for a big road win.
Here’s how to watch:
