In not to surprising of news, although in the current college basketball landscape welcome news, Utah forward Timmy Allen will be returning to school for his junior season. The Utah forward/wing put his name into the NBA Draft pool, as is common for many underclassmen, to get some feedback on where is game is at and what kind stuff he needs to work on to get a shot at the league. No doubt the biggest takeaway is that his perimeter game needs to improve, especially his jump shot.
Allen averaged 17 points per game this past season, and was a monster in the non-conference and early conference slate. He hit a bit of a wall in the latter part of the season. Allen was joined by Both Gach to put his name in the NBA Draft, but Gach decided to transfer to Minnesota.
Allen returning is a big boost for the Utes, as they bring in so many new guys, once again, any continuity will go a long ways. Hopefully the new talent that is coming in will take some of the scoring burden off of his shoulders, as I’m not sure if he’s a No. 1 scoring option kind of player, although he can fill it up on any given night.
This is good news for Utah basketball fans, and I can’t wait to see Timmy back on the floor.
