Utah men’s hoops picked 10th in Pac-12 preseason media poll

NCAA Basketball: Pac-12 Media Day Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Hoops season starts in about a month and we now know where the media believes the Utes will fall this coming season. With all the turnover in the program both with the coaching staff and the roster the media picked the Utes to come in at No. 10 in the Pac-12 for the upcoming season. That spot is not a big surprise for the program, and I’m hoping Coach Smith can have similar results as he had at USU his first season when the Aggies were picked near the bottom of the MWC and he ended up winning the league.

Craig Smith, Riley Battin, and Brandon Carlson made the trip media days on Wednesday to preview the season, and you should check out their media session. It’s embedded below. Craig Smith has the energy that the program has been desperately needing, and has me excited to see how he is going to rebuild this program.

Leading the poll is UCLA, which was expected since they are returning a team that went to the Final Four last season. Oregon is No. 2, and we all know Altman will have a talented group of guys back, and USC came in at No. 3. It will be interesting to see how they fill the giant hole left by Evan Mobley after he went to the NBA.

Check out the Utah portion of media day, and then at the bottom check out the full poll.
