Utah may not be in a position to claim a spot in the top 25, but the good news is, there are no PAC-12 games that can impact the Utes’ standing as the South’s top dog. Arizona takes on USC, but that presumed USC victory won’t give the Trojans any gains in the race for the South, and if Arizona somehow pulls out the upset, they’re too far out of the picture to even be a threat. The same can be said for Colorado vs Oregon. WIth UCLA visiting Utah, that leaves just one team in the South to keep an eye on this weekend.
Washington State vs Arizona State - Saturday 1:00 PM MT - Fox Sports 1
The Utes and Sun Devils are tied atop the PAC-12 South with Utah holding the tiebreaker. The Cougars are simply in survival mode at this point after losing most of their coaching staff, including head coach Nick Rolovich for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, but if the +16 point underdog Cougars can find a way to sink ASU, it gives the Utes a little breathing room in case UCLA escapes Rice-Eccles with a win.
