Utes land five on first-team All-Pac-12 preseason list

NCAA Football: Pac-12 Media Day Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

There is a lot of hype for the Utah football team going into the 2021 season and that’s largely due to the talent that Utah is returning. The Utes landed five guys on the first-team all-conference preseason team, the most in the conference regarding that returning talent. The five guys to land on the preseason first-team are Nick Ford, Mika Tafua, Devin Lloyd, Jadon Redding, and Britain Covey.

Covey was named as a wide receiver on the second team, as was offensive lineman Sataoa Laumea.

Honorable mentions included Brant Kuithe, Viane Moala, JaTravis Broughton, Clark Phillips, and long snapper Keegan Markgraf. Can we talk about how crazy it is that Kuithe is an HONORABLE MENTION and not at least a second-team guy?! I think that is nuts. I fully expect him to be a first-team all-conference guy at the end of the season with the swiss-army knife skills that he plays possesses.

It is also interesting that the Utes, who weren’t picked to win the league, have the most first-team guys. Now, these guys have to earn it on the field, and in some cases, like Kuithe, prove some guys wrong.
