Before you know it basketball season will be here and Craig Smith will be looking to get things rolling in the right direction for this new look Runnin’ Utes squad. The non-conference schedule is almost complete and they added two neutral site games, one this season and one next, against former conference foe TCU.
Schedule Update
— Utah Basketball (@UtahMBB) September 14, 2021
We have added @TCUBasketball to our non-conference schedule to play at @DickiesArena on Dec. 8, 2021‼️
The Horned Frogs will then head to SLC in 2022 and play the Runnin' Utes at @vivintarena on Dec. 21!#GoUtes https://t.co/qrKCPD2bof
The first game will be in just a couple of months, on December 8th, in Fort Worth. The return trip will be next December, the 21st, and that game will take place at Vivint Arena in downtown SLC.
TCU has turned into a solid basketball program under Jamie Dixon, who left Pitt a handful of seasons ago. Last year they did place 8th in the Big 12, but they did upset the eventual National Champs, Baylor, near the end of the season.
This is a matchup I like, especially where the program is right now. TCU should give the Utes a good test early in the season to see where they stand, and where they are going to need to improve.
This is the most excited I've been for basketball in some time, and I can’t wait to see what Craig Smith does with these guys.
