UPDATE 9/26 10:30 AM: Salt Lake City Police Department has released an official statement on the incident that can be read below.

Shortly after midnight on September 26th, police responded to a house party shooting in Sugar House that claimed the life of Utah defensive back Aaron Lowe. One other person, currently unidentified, is in critical condition.

This tragedy comes less than a year since Ty Jordan, Utah’s star freshman running back, lost his life in a gun-related incident.

Lowe, who was a close personal friend of Jordan since high school and had helped to recruit the running back to Utah, was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship and had switched his jersey number to 22 to honor his late friend this season.
