Kaelin Clay made one heck of a first impression as a Ute, and has been named Special Teams Player of the Week in the Pac-12.

Some Utah records in the return game may be in jeopardy. Kaelin Clay, who returned a 46-yard punt return for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter against Idaho State, and a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter, was named Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week for week one. Clay had 159 total yards on the day, after also adding 13-yards in the receiving game.

Clay is the first Ute to return a kick since Reggie Dunn in 2012, and the first Ute to return a punt since Shaky Smithson in 2010. Clay became the first Pac-12 player since 1999 (Deltha O'Neal of California) to score a touchdown on a punt return and a kickoff return in the same game.

Clay joins USC's quarterback Cody Kessler, and UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks for week one honors.
