Did ESPN.com Jinx Utah?
ESPN.com college basketball reporter Myron Medcalf has called for Utah to upset Duke in the Sweet Sixteen. It's part of his article with bold predictions for the round of 16, but looking at his previous bold predictions, it may just be the kiss of death. Medcalf incorrectly predicted BYU to the Sweet Sixteen (yes, hold your laughter) and Eastern Washington to upset Georgetown. Now, granted, the prediction were supposed to be bold and have at least some possibility of happening, but... they weren't really even close. Medcalf also predicts Utah as dropping their Elite Eight game to Gonzaga, who would be reaching their first Final Four ever. Gonzaga is a very good program. Gonzaga has a Kryzewski-light head coach in Mark Few (who Utah tried to lure away before it hired his assistant Ray Giacoletti), and this season's team is big, versatile, and plays solid defense. Beating the 'Zags would be about as huge a task as getting by Duke, where as the Bulldogs' Sweet Sixteen opponent UCLA is not exactly, well, UCLA.

Brendan Bailey Decommits from ASU
According to Josh Gershon, 2016 American Fork (Utah) guard/forward Brendan Bailey has decommitted from #ASU, his mother Sindi tells Scout.com. The 6-6 Bailey has an offer from the Runnin' Utes and is the son of former Utah Jazz forward Thurl Bailey. The younger Bailey is rated a four-star recruit. The news comes quickly on the heels of the Arizona State athletics announcement that they fired head basketball coach Herb Sendek. Can Utah land Bailey? A Sweet Sixteen appearance can't hurt the cause. Utah will have four scholarships to work with for the 2016 recruiting class, possibly more depending on what happens with Jake Connor and Eris Winder. With Jordan Loveridge and Dakarai Tucker graduating after the 2015-2016 season, Utah will need to restock their cupboard with athletic, long, wings.

How Sweet Sixteen It Is! Utes Beat Hoyas 75-64
