Utah football signs LB Jake Jackson

The Utah football team has officially announced the addition of linebacker Jake Jackson. Jackson initially signed in 2012, but he served a two year LDS mission. He has enrolled in classes and will participate in spring ball.

Jackson measures at 6-foot 3-inches and 205 pounds. The Encinitas, CA, native was a two-star rated 24/7 composite recruit. In high school, Jackson was first-team All-Avocado West League and All-San Diego Section defense as a senior in 2011. Jackson played both linebacker and tight end in high school, but as a linebacker he had 103 tackles with 11 sacks.

Jackson will be a welcome addition to the linebackers, since most of the linebacking corps (Gionni Paul, Jason Whittingham, Jared Norris) will be gone after the 2015 season. A player like Jackson will likely need some seasoning with a redshirt year to get his legs back after his mission, and work on his body.
