LB Cody Barton to join Utah football in fall

Utah football will sign Cody Barton in the fall and he will count toward the 2016 class (via Matt Piper of the SL Trib). The 6-foot, 2-inch 210 pound linebacker will be a welcome addition to the linebacking corps, especially with the starters being all seniors in 2015.

During his senior year of high school, Barton racked up 73 tackles (34 solo) and three interceptions in 12 games. He also picked up 334 receiving yards and two touchdowns playing on the offensive side of the ball.

As with any freshman coming in, Barton will have to add some bulk and increase his speed. Fortunately, a year with the strength and conditioning program and Barton will put on the size.

Cody will be joining his brother, Jackson, who is an offensive tackle, up on The Hill. Cody was receiving interest from Colorado and Washington State. The Utes got a good one with Cody Barton.
