The Utes love themselves Florida boys, as they land another one with linebacker Donavan Thompson of Miami Central. Thompson is a composite three star recruit by 247sports, and measures at 5' 10" and 211 pounds. While he's not the ideal size of a linebacker, he does have many similarities to another South Florida linebacker that Utah has had, Gionni Paul.
Thompson was previously an FIU commit before flipping to the Utes this past week. He also had offers from UCF, USF, Arkansas and Oregon State.
Thompson, being a linebacker, adds some much needed depth to the position, as Utah lost Gionni Paul, Jason Whittingham and Jared Norris to graduation this past season. When you watch his film, above, you see a lot of similarities to Paul. He's a hard hitter, has a nose for the ball, and just stands out on film when he makes plays. The Utes appear to have gotten a very good one here.
